Day 61 - Hobart - Tasman peninsula
Saturday, 29 March 2014
Off again, Tasman Peninsula, of course checking out every track Inbetween. Seven mile beach, near Hobart was scenic and lovely to see horses being exercised in the water but quite noisy as a plane skimmed overhead coming in to land.
Primrose beach headland had some beautiful realty and a good free camp, for future reference. Still evidence of the fires a year ago around Dunally. Over eagle hawk neck. What an amazing bit of geography. The first explorers coming in by boat must have been confused, not knowing what was Island or mainland (as in Tas itself :)
Into Doo Towm, amused by the house names, doo drop in, Doo F all, dr Doolittle, Should have written them down. Each one seemingly trying to,out do the neighbour. Came across a coach that had bottomed out taking a sharp uphill turn. Quite amusing. Was still digging a couple of hours later.
Unfinished business of a walk by Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen. Quite lovely but I had noticed whilst having breakfast that the breeze through the shady trees was unusually warm. Took no notice and was now quickly morphing into a snappy crocodile as I overheated. Too bad, top had to come off, but modesty was saved by 'draping' my scarf around, not very artistically, but was beyond caring at this stage.
