Day 71 - Lake Toom to Triabunna
Tuesday, 8 April 2014
Cloudy day, but driving through amazingly fertile looking rolling hillside farmland. Coming out on the main road we spied The Buckland H otel, it beckoned us for a beer, but it was a bit empty, the publican catching up with some painting maintenance, so we just pulled up behind at the very neat and tidy BBQ area for lunch.
Into Triabunna just a bit further up the coast. Perfect natural harbour. Mathis is where the ferry leaves for Maria Island. That trip will have to wait for another visit as it is a place for lots of walking and HH's back is not up to it yet. So we had to settle for a sticky beak at the boats in the harbour, a delightful chat with Anna in the information centre, where we discovered for a good coin donation at the hotel we could park up for the night, and by the info centre $4 would get you a hot shower, I was up for that :)
Ad a couple of beers in the pub later. Tried to watch Blacklist but think the connection too slow.
