Targa to Ben Lomond

Day 68 - Targa to Ben Lomond

Saturday, 5 April 2014

Lovely and sunny so the canvas dried from the overnight damp quite quickly. Into Scottsdale where I found myself a woollen sweater, think the evenings are getting quite cold. The Rivers Brewery wasn't yet open to the public so we had to give it a miss and we headed out of town and for Ben Lomond. Tasmania's ski mountain, with its second highest peak of Legge Tor of 1545 m.

Very craggy and sunny so lovely views. The last leg (ha ha Legge) of the track is called Jacobs Ladder for good reason. We drove into the deserted ski village and clocked the highest altitude on our GPS of 1490m. Very good lookout, bit cold.

Headed halfway down, well not quite, just over 1000m where there is a camp site, with hut and fireplace. Took a while to get the wood going without smoking us out, so we ate dinner in the camper, but it had cleared out a bit later so spent the evening huddled in front of the flames, and I have finally caught up with this blog, ha ha until tomorrow. Then we have to get to a place where I can upload. Oh yes, got to get today's photos. Never ending :). Will be good to have a rest after this trek around Tassie.
