Brushy lagoon to Rowallan Lake

Day 9 - Brushy lagoon to Rowallan Lake

Wednesday, 5 February 2014

A late start as we were enjoying she's company. We had Michael's waypoints, he had spent a night here and then drove around the far side of the lagoon with the comments it was a bit boggy in places. We would see if we could get through :)

It certainly would have needed a John Deere after a lot of rain! but it had dried out and was horribly rutted. Very uncomfortable ride, so I got out to walk/run the next stretch. Stretch me out it did, got to get these creaky joints loosed up.

We eventually meandered the scenic route into Deloraine. Parked up to explore this picturesque town. More screws needed, post office, info centre and THREE op shops, yay. Bumped into Sue again, who had found herself a pure wool blanket (cold last night) whilst I found a brand new mohair sleeveless vest for my senior!

After lunch and a quick walk along the banks of the river we moved on to find Allum cliffs.

An up and over walk, come on knew you ca do it. Lookout over a deep gorge, no way of getting down there, thank goodness.

Found a camp spot (eventually) calling the banks of the river. Had driven right past the turn off first time :). Lots of footprints, non human, must google, next time we have coverage, to see what Tassie Devils, wombats and echidna spores look like.
