Day 13 - Cradle Mtn to Milkshakes Hill
Sunday, 9 February 2014
Threatening weather so packed up camper and moved over to camp kitchen for a cooked breakfast. Yummy, got the eggs perfect this time, apparently:)
Heading north west. Winding foresty roads. Not the most comfortable. Into Big Dip falls. Raining at this stage and realised I had a hood less jacket, so didn't make the trip down to the base, left that for HH, he could take photos anyway :)
The bridge was still down, no signs anywhere. HH quite annoyed all this way in and nothing to let you know it is a dead end!! However, annoyance too abated when we decided to camp at Milkshakes Hill reserve and found three other vehicles already there! one of which was a VISTA. How exciting. Introductions all around and a space was found for us to open up (after a little pruning).
Brian and Pam, Eddy and Willy, Garry and Dianne are from the Ballarat 4x4. We were soon around a campfire exchanging stories. Of course we were so excited about their Vista and asked a million questions. Now even more impatient to pick up our own, roll on May.
It always fascinates me camping amongst giants, here mostly brown top stringy bark. Makes the vehicles and campers look like toys. An unusually quiet night, no wind, no rustlings!
