Day 47 - Cloudy Bay to Tahune Forest Reserve
Saturday, 15 March 2014
Leaving Bruny, rain forecast. Bit of a race to get to the ferry, but we made it. On to the "mainland" ha ha, the main part of Tas. Through to Cygnet and had a bit of a forage. Very arty place, lots of cafe, studio places etc. nice feel, bit alternative. Found a lovely grocers, bought a sprouted rye loaf for lunch, can't wait. Found a hand knitted (wool) waist coat in a recycled shop for $4.00, that had my name on it, right size, colour etc. guess what colour? :)
Wanted to check out the apple Museum just north of Huonville. Wow what a fantastic place. Had a tasting paddle for $12, loved it. The whole place was kitted out so creatively. Best use of packing cases etc. resisted buying lunch as I looking forward to the bread.
Up the road at Judbury we found a picnic shelter under a beautiful pine, rummaged around the fridge for the smoked salmon, philly cheese, sliced up the bread (on my slab of Huon Pine) and we hoed in, yummy. Didn't regret not buying lunch at the apple Museum.
Bit of 4x4 track to get to the Airwalk (the back way of course, just because he can!! Glad it was dry as it looks like it would be quite 'greasy' with a bit of rain.
Free camping at the Tahune Airwalk forest, so we set up, rain threatening.
