Day 58 - Macquarie Heads
Wednesday, 26 March 2014
No moving on today, yippee, chance to laze around, catch up, soak up some sunshine. First job, stroll down the beach with coffee to see The Eagle sail past. Wonder if the skipper recognised us ?:). This is a very popular fishing spot, so despite HH minding his crook back, bet he can't resist casting a lure or two.
Found a few wet things in cupboards from all the rain, so we laid it all out in the sun. Warm enough to get the bikini on. Had a bit of a spring clean seeing as the cupboards were empty. HH took a wheel off to discover one of the brake pads has worn down to metal, all these hills have taken a toll.
Enjoyed pottering between the campsite and checking out what was happening on the beach. Went down to watch the evening turn pink and started chatting to a young man, Alex. What an adventure his life has been. Has spent the last 15 years visiting Tassie on his quest to paddle his kayak around the island. Lots of long walking treks as well. Oh I feel so tame and boring when I listen to amazing people like this. One story about his not being able to get into shore as the swell/surf too big and spent the whole night paddling to keep off the rocks, filled me with horrors. When I mentioned that I didn't think I would ever recover from an event like that he laughed and said it was 6 months before he could go to the beach in the evening, honest, well! he is a psychotherapist :)
