Day 43 - Hobart to Randall Bay
Tuesday, 11 March 2014
Leaving Hobart and heading south. Where have the days gone. Meant to be a rest, doesn't feel like it :). Quick detour up to Mt Nelson. Better clarity today than when we were up Mt Wellington.
Back down the zig zag hair pins. Reminds us of Kalamunda/Gooseberry Hill, steep driveways, lots of trees. Memories.
Very picturesque coastal drive, lots of history. Lunch at Kingston Yacht Club. A bit disappointed to see the Warning sign at jetty. No eating of some fish. Mound out later it is due to the algal blooms, result of the salmon farms in the Derwent River. How sad! Another reason to not want to eat farmed salmon. If you can eat certain other fish living in the river, how come you can eat the salmon?
Meandered our way all around this amazing coastline. So many inlets and bays. Passing through the town of Margate (reminiscent of my childhood in UK) we stopped at The Margate Train. It's carriages being used as shops. HH drooling in the Lolly Shop, came away with a block of toffee.
We found a lovely camp spot overlooking Mickey's Beach on Randall Bay. Mickey wasn't there, but we chatted to some other locals. Two young families, more than a handful of kids and a very bouncy puppy.
